Who 90 Day Jane Really Is

She’s (they) promoting a movie, or whatever.

From their website, front page:
“What is movieLOL?
We are a group of 5 people, known online as ‘movieLOL’, filmmakers and well-known ‘net neutrality’-activists who launched the immensely popular YouTube reality-series ‘ATHENE’. We’re also known internationally as NEE, the political movement that shocked and intrigued the world with its controversial satirical ‘40,000 ###’ campaign. As of january 2008, we also launched the instantly popular I POWER community and will remain dedicated to inspiring it through the I POWER YouTube series.

How I figured it out… they got sloppy. Assuming that is, they didn’t want to get figured out yet.

Although they had shut down their original blog at 90dayjane.blogpot.com where they had included a link to their sitemeter, and did not put their sitemeter back up at their new site, 90-day-jane.blogspot.com (EDIT: WARNING, Strongly suspect 90-day-jane.blogspot is actually a spoof NOT set up by Jane, and it may contain at least one virus. Thank you to my readers for this tip!) we already had a link to their sitemeter in our first post regarding their blog. They never did close off public access to their sitemeter account.

90dayjanesitemeter

While I was viewing their sitemeter account I saw activity on yet another new blog of theirs, http://suicide.movielol.org/jane.html.

Then, I pulled up, among other things, their website movielol.org.

Ok…. on to other things…

  1. I was hooked on your posts.
You were really the one to discover this first? That’s cool.

  2. As far as I know… I think so!

  4. sorry. “21:50″ should be “21:15″
    ;-)

  5. No, I think you missed the point that 90 day jane was taken down by blogspot, that movielol.org just hosted the site for reference. Try reading through the whole message first sweetheart. Enjoyed the post though.

  6. You’re the very first blogger to link this story Ivan! I haven’t found anywhere where someone else figured this out. Someone posted to her blog that this post is here, though. I guess they’ll either come up with another direction, make up something and post it in the comments, or stop at this point.

It’s sad that a blogger had to take it upon his/herself and spoof the original page and (possibly) place a virus in it. This could have ended much better without that happening.

  7. Hey Chris, like you said, read the message!

Blogspot didn’t take down Jane’s site, she did. She said so herself. Everybody has read that already, that’s old news! “feel a massive sense of responsibility to my art, but more importantly the readers of this blog. My closeness to this project must have made art seem like reality to many people. That is not a reaction that I expected nor can I morally justify. This is why my project, 90DayJane, will be taken down in the next few hours.”

“Movielol.org hostED the site for reference…” you’re a riot! Movielol.org wasn’t on the sitemeter until today, once the old blog was removed. Do you even use a computer?

  8. Here’s how they’re moving through it now - follow this link

  9. I still don’t know it’s them. That whole thing is against online suicide, and I almost believe the sincerity. And unless they’ve got another partner we haven’t seen yet, 90 Day Jane (in the dress video, at least) isn’t as “busty” as Tania D. But what the hell do I know?

  10. They are a 5 person team according to their website, I haven’t seen their work before. I just started reading about them today after I ran up on all of this. I know they aren’t too happy about scientology, and they’ve also been in a tiff with youtube recently. I read about their issues with youtube (it’s on their site, movielol.org) after I had problems viewing the youtube they had put up, and wondered if they were having related problems again. That stinks about what happened with their videos (movielol’s videos). I’ll have to find the link on their site and put it here so you can see what I’m talking about…

  11. Here it is - http://ipower.movielol.org/youtube-anon.php

  12. http://suicide.movielol.org/index.html <<< boy these posts look familiar, don’t they?

they look just like Janes did. http://suicide.movielol.org/jane.html

  13. There is more than the referring URL and the Sitemeter Anaj, did you read all of this ?

Accessing the sitemeter is what led us to the new page:

    http://suicide.movielol.org/jane

    then of course, to movielol.org, and all of it’s contents;

and then there is the rest, as what is written already.

  14. I still wonder how many actual suicides will/has happen(ed) because of this piece of “art”. It doesn’t take much to influence a teen. They are already in a dither because of hormonal poisoning. And severely depressed people only need the barest nudge to fall off the edge (been there, yes, did that!) This is why psychs do scientific experiments with controls and regulations. Art has consequences and influences the world. Use it to enrich, not destroy…Give me base pubescent porn talk (”show me your clam” ;) shit before being the role model for suicide.

  15. No 90dayjane was not taken down by Blogspot. It was taken down by the make after saying she (whoever) would take it down a few hours after the final post. None of the other 90-day-jane or 90day-jane etc blogs are real of course. I doubt anyone could follow on with this in the truly original though provoking way that it was started. I for one am going to miss it.

Jenn, if you actually read the blog you may have seen that it lead to hope, both as a piece of art and at then end a declaration of brutal honesty about the way we react to people via the internet.

  17. freaky :D
