Suspects Arrested in Sean Taylors Murder
Four men have been arrested for the shooting death of NFL player Sean Taylor.
Although there were many rumours that Sean Taylor was targeted, the suspects have indicated that they were expecting the residence to not be occupied. They did not come into Sean’s home with the intent to kill him, however they were aware that it was Sean Taylor’s home they were breaking into.
Taylor was home unexpectedly because of an injury, his former attorney, Richard Sharpstein, told reporters Tuesday. “I think he was surprised or they were surprised to find him there,” he said.
Their motive was to go there and steal the contents of the house, and unfortunately, Sean and his family were home.
The suspects are Venjah K. Hunte, 20; Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Jason Scott Mitchell, 17; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.
EDIT: May 2008 - A fifth suspect is now arrested, 16 year-old Timothy Lee Brown.

Mitchell and Wardlow had connections to Taylor. Mitchell cut Sean Taylor’s lawn and did other chores at the house. Sean Taylor’s sister, Sasha Johnson, dates Charles Wardlow’s older cousin (could be uncle) Christopher, (also known as Devon) and the couple invited Jason Mitchell to Sarah Johnson’s birthday party within the past two months.
Additional arrests are possible.
The four that were arrested, were arrested Friday in southwest Florida, about 100 miles from Miami. They will be booked into the Lee County Jail and eventually will be returned to Miami.

Jesus….I’ll think twice about paying a kid to cut my grass from now on. I hope they throw the book at these guys if the are indeed guilty. Murdering a guy in front of his family is unthinkable.
This kind of reminds me of the 9-1-1 call currently on Ebaumsworld.com where the guy calls in, reports the robbery of the house next door, then blows away the would-be robbers with his shotgun. If only Sean had such a neighbor he might still be with us and making bone-jarring hits every Sunday. Lord knows I wanted my team to draft him.

I pulled up the page I believe they are discussing, it certainly fits how they described it, but I’m not sure that the fellow in the picture is him. I’m not for certain. Thoughts?

His name is Christopher Devon Wardlow. He seems to go by the name Devon.

She also mentions Sasha. Sasha is Sean Taylor’s sister.
**Jason Taylor’s (Venjah Hunte) mom had been begging Devon on the cell phone, pleading him to tell her what is going on. Stating that Jason was NOT at Sean’s home that night Sean was killed. That Sasha had arranged for those boys who were there, to go.
Interesting to see how this whole saga plays out!

i am so glad that they have captured those boys i feel so bad about what has happened and i just thank jesus that they have caught them bastards and i hope they just sit in jail for the rest of ther life

*Venjah Hunte is talking with prosecutors about a plea agreement that may include testifying against the others.
*The black handgun, which hasn’t been located, used in Taylor’s killing was placed in a sock and thrown into the Everglades along Alligator Alley between Miami and the Fort Myers area where the four lived.
*At least one of the men said he had stolen $5,000 from Taylor’s home before.

Venjah Hunte faces a 29-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to second degree murder and armed burglary.
The negotiated plea calls for 29 years incarceration and for Venjah Hunte to testify truthfully in a trial against the co-defenders. He may now need to testify against the four other men involved in the trial. There is now a 5th suspect ; police arrested 16-year-old Timothy Lee Brown earlier this week.
